It is genetically coded in our DNA that age is our enemy. As women, we refuse to come under the reign of time; we refuse to become wrinkled up raisins. But unbeknownst to many, our daily habits can speed up our process of aging. So girls, to avoid those wrinkles crawling up your skin, remember to stay away from these ten bad habits. Having good habits can save you tons of greens later as you will literally throw away cash to look young.
Bad Habit # 1: Frowning
It pays to be depressed and frowning all the time. Unfortunately, it is your youth that is being compensated. This is a great way for the sneaky wrinkles to crawl up. So turn the frown upside down, and most importantly, STAY HAPPY. A healthy balance of mental health is especially essential to have good skin. Trust me, it shows.
Bad Habit # 2: Pull An All Nighter
Pulling an all nighter is your skin’s biggest enemy. Not getting enough sleep affects your skin’s natural ability to rejuvenate itself. The best thing to do is to sleep at least 8 hours a day. This is almost impossible to do for many of us, but there is an alternative. The alternative is to sleep around 10 PM- 2AM, which is the period where your skin rejuvenates itself. What I would suggest is to finish your daily ablution before 10 PM and sleep during that period so that your skin can get the most out of the rejuvenation.
Bad Habit # 3: Burn Your Skin
For those who love the beach or sports, you can’t simply let go of your love for the sun. That’s okay, as long as you always remember to pamper yourself with plenty of sunscreen or sun block before heading outside. I would suggest waterproof sun protection since most of you are active under the sun and it would be a hassle to reapply the sunscreen. Not only will the unprotected exposure to the sun increase your chances of getting wrinkles, freckles, spots will also appear. Another mistake people make is that they don’t read directions. Usually on the back of the sunscreen, it cautions to wait 15-30 minutes after applying the sunscreen and before going out. Please do so, or you are not giving your skin enough time to absorb the protection. Before you go frolicking on the beach in your bikinis, be sunscreened!
Bad Habit # 4: Smoking and Drinking
Some of us need them, can’t live without them, but do so at your own risk. The nicotine in the cigarettes dehydrates and deprives your skin of oxygen. When the first puff of smoke enters your lungs, the carbon monoxide is being absorbed by the hemoglobin in the blood. Because of all the bad chemicals in your body, the liver is overworked trying to get rid of them; your skin loses its healthy glow and gradually becomes grayish. Drinking also ages your skin. Drinking dehydrates the skin, making it especially vulnerable to wrinkles. It also depletes the body of Vitamin A, which is an essential antioxidant. For the sake of your beautiful skin, refrain from smoking and drinking!
Bad Habit # 5: Having Overly Expressive Expressions
If you overdose on your facial expressions, chances are that you are stressing your facial muscles and that can make wrinkles permanent. Just don’t overdo on your expressions and message your face often to relieve the muscle stress.
Bad Habit # 6: Don’t Drink Water
The human body is approximately 90% water. This is how vital H2O is in our lives. Drink 8 cups of waters a day, this helps to keep your body hydrated from the inside. This cleans the body and helps your body to rid of harmful substances. Try drinking a cup of water on an empty stomach every morning.
Bad Habit # 7: Don’t Exercise
Studies have found that exercising regularly does reduce signs of aging and acne breakouts. Regular workout helps blood circulation and increases the delivery of nutrients to cells in the skin. Working out releases stress and mediates the body’s production of hormones that can cause acne breakouts. Sweating from working out also quickens cells’ turnover and secrete harmful substances from your body. Working out is literally the second best skincare, after sleep, of course.
Bad Habit # 8: Don’t Remove Makeup Completely
This is a step I can’t emphasize enough. Always do a very thorough job on removing the makeup, or else it will sink deep into the skin and clog your pores. This is detrimental to your skin’s health because it will gradually build up makeup. If you don’t remove your makeup, your skin will definitely reflect your laziness the next day, it would be rougher and prone to break out the next day. Please do your skin a favor and let it breathe after a refreshing cleansing! Sleeping with mascara is especially dangerous because it can eventually cause blindness. There are no ugly women, only lazy ones!
Bad Habit # 9: Use Unsuitable Skincare Products
Do you really understand your skin? To know your skin inside and out, read our article, http://coralcoral.wordpress.com/category/uncategorized/ : “Know Thyself, Know Thy Skin Type.” Using the wrong kind of skincare is really bad for your skin as every skincare product is specially designed for a specified skin type. For example, if you have dry or normal skin, don’t use cleansers that are designed for oily/acne prone skin; this can over strip your skin of its oil that is necessary to lock moisture in your skin. Also one thing you have to watch out is seasonal changes. Yes, your skin can change as the weather changes. You might have oily skin in the summer, but when winter rolls around, your skin type might change to combination skin, with only your T-zone as the oily part.
Bad Habit # 10: Eat Unhealthily
We all know the saying, we are what we eat. This is unfortunately true for most of us, while we burn in envy as we see some skinny girls eating extra, extra sugary deserts without worrying about gaining weights, we have to count every calorie as we stuff in the green salads. This true for skin too. Not only will unhealthy food gave us empty calories, cholesterol, it can age our skin as well. Stay away from spicy, fried, and sugary food especially, and become best friends with greens and fruits. The nutrition from the veggies and fruits can only do wonder to your skin. Skin is a direct reflection your healthy diet. Eat healthy and be happy.
Although most Asian women are naturally younger looking than their non-Asian counterpart, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be as cautious as possible in taking care of yourself. Don’t abuse this gift!
